Inspire Healing through Art, Painting a Dot Mandala

October 20, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Prepare for a dynamic group discussion regarding the power of healing through art. We will be painting a dot mandala, created with various tools we have in our home, no brushes will be used. Mandalas are a universal icon of strong spiritual connection in the Buddhist and Hindu religion. The word mandala means circle in Sanskrit. The circle is completed with repetitive designs which creates a meditative state in our minds. Have you ever thought about the psychological impact of color we surround ourselves with in our homes, our clothes, even our cars? We will discuss color choices. Lines are the first and most basic component of artwork. Does a straight line invoke a different emotion than a curved line? Come enjoy a quick art class and feel the healing! No previous art experience is needed.

Supply list:

All of these items can be purchased at Michaels, Hobby Lobby or the Dollar Tree.

6″ x 6″ canvas panel

Lollipop stick Toothpicks or a Stylus, a dotting tool.

Paper towels.

Q-tips Prior to class, paint your canvas with two coats of black acrylic paint.

Allow this to dry and cure overnight.

Using a ruler/t-square and your white pencil create a plus sign on your canvas making a horizontal and vertical line at halfway point.

Then create a giant “X” from the upper left corner to the bottom right corner and another line from the upper right corner to the bottom left corner.

The X lines should intersect perfectly with the center of the plus sign.
