PITCH YOUR IDEA. GET VALUABLE FEEDBACK. WIN STARTUP CAPITAL.
Oct. 5, 2019, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The annual Pitch George Competition is one of the George Washington University’s (GW) premier entrepreneurial initiatives organized by the GW Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence (CFEE). The “elevator pitch” competition takes place each fall semester and allows young entrepreneurs (ranging from GW’s undergraduate class to Alumni) to present their business ideas, get valuable feedback on the viability of their business concepts and win startup capital. The competition offers networking opportunities with entrepreneurs from the greater DC area as well as hands-on preparation for the GW New Venture Competition.
What’s new at Pitch George 2019?
This year at Pitch George, participants have the chance to witness as ideas are transformed into start-up capital, all for the purpose of gaining valuable feedback in a supportive environment. In Round 1, “Dreamers” will compete to advance to Round 2. Teams who fail to advance may attempt a “Believers” Round 1a. In Round 2, “Innovators” will compete to become “Entrepreneurs”, the final round. In this year’s fun and interactive event, the top teams will be accelerated into making their dream into a reality.
There will be 3 tiers of finalists, receiving a variety of prizes for their successful pitches:
First Tier: The first group of 5 out of 15 final teams will receive $1000 in venture capital, an immediate advancement into the New Venture Competition, and one (1) hour of mentorship from one of the judges from any of the panels.
Second Tier: The second group of 5 out of 15 final teams will receive $500 in venture capital and one (1) hour of mentorship from one of the judges from any of the panels.
Third Tier: The third group of 5 out of 15 final teams will receive one (1) hour of mentorship from one of the judges from any of the panels.
All 15 teams will receive a Pitch George Finalist Certificate upon completion of the competition.
Winners of Entrepreneurs Final Round must stay until the end of the Pitch George Competition (4:00 PM) to fill out financial forms and obtain the monetary prize.
Monetary prizes will be distributed to one member of the team and may take up to one month to process.
